“I can teach anybody how to get what they want out of life. The problem is that, I can’t find anybody who can tell me what they want.” – Mark Twain
Career change is a life changing event. I know. I've done it! Twice! From 20-something journalist (evidence at right!) to corporate marketing senior manager to Career Coach, I understand what you're going through. And it's stressful.
IS ANY OF THE BELOW YOU?
Joe, I have skills and interest that apply to multiple industries or jobs but I am having difficulty choosing the right one to focus on and pursue, OR...
Joe, I'm really not sure what I want to do next because....
...I feel unfulfilled or not challenged enough in my current job or career.
...I've tried different jobs or careers, but nothing’s been truly enjoyable.
....I'm uncertain and worried about my career path or future goals; my industry is downsizing or not growing.
...I feel lost or stuck.
...I'm a career military professional that’s recently been honorably discharged and am now seeking my first job outside the service, but I'm not sure what I do want to do.
...I'm a recently retired professional athlete trying to answer, "now what?"
....I graduated from college recently or in the past few years, yet have no interest in pursuing the career for which I earned my degree.
If any of this is you, first off, understand you are not alone. Changing careers is more common than you might think. And if I can reinvent myself, so can you.
WHAT I DO BEST AND HOW I WILL HELP YOU
As an accomplished, elite-level career transition expert, I’ve helped young graduates; seasoned military professionals; retired professional athletes; and business professionals unhappy in their current job successfully choose the right career, whether for a firm in the private sector, government entity, nonprofit organization or launching their own new business.
What I do best is help you determine the right career path by focusing on opportunities that match your unique personality, interests and skills.
If you don’t know the career you want to pursue, we first start with an assessment of what makes you unique – and there is no right or wrong answer here.
Everyone’s DNA is different and no two people are wired exactly the same.
Using a combination of my unique expertise coupled with assessment tests, we’ll determine the most realistic possible careers for you, including identifying an “entry point” into a new field that interests you, which may include a potential internship/shadowing or volunteer program.
HOW WE'LL WORK TOGETHER
In virtually all cases, coaching services are provided by telephone or video (like Zoom or Skype) via 30 or 60 minute sessions. For some clients, it will require only one coaching session. For others, it might be multiple sessions.

HELP ME CHOOSE A CAREER CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
“Being 50+, last time I worked was over 10 years ago. He explained how I could overcome obstacles and provided potential entry points to secure employment in different industries. His advice to pursue an LVN Certificate was the right path. Joe, my greatest appreciation!” – CM
"I hired Joe to write my resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile. He was very professional and answered all my questions during multiple phone calls. He provided me guidance on transitioning out of the military and finding employment in the private sector. I highly recommend his services." – RS
"If you are a recently retired professional athlete and need help transitioning to your next career, the best person to talk to is Joe Connor. Last summer, I was in an unfamiliar and uncomfortable place: unemployed. It was the first time in my life I was without baseball – and direction. Joe did not sugarcoat anything, yet he was a man with a plan. He immediately taught me key business skills that helped out right away, including how to network and communicate with business professionals. Each week we modified my action plan, which sometimes included completing what he called homework. I looked at it as an opportunity to learn another new skill in order to invest in myself and my future.
"Joe taught me how to overcome obstacles in the interview that I would come up against, like a lack of experience. The advice paid off big time. This March, I got a great job with Express Employment Professionals, a leading staffing firm. In less than eight months working with Joe, I went from lost and frustrated to a career that I really enjoy. There is no question I would not be where I am today without Joe. Through his coaching, Joe helped me find my path. Thank you, Joe. I will be eternally grateful!" – AH (former MLB player)
“When your baseball career suddenly ends, starting the next chapter of your life is extremely challenging. The only profession you’ve known is playing baseball. Thanks to Joe, I now have direction. He’s helped me identify three realistic career options, and to this end, I recently secured an apprenticeship pertaining to one of those careers. This paid, hands-on opportunity will enable me to determine if this particular career is what I want to do long-term. And Joe taught me important networking skills that helped me land the apprenticeship. He’s also educated me about how to network the right way on LinkedIn. Joe’s not only boosted my confidence by teaching me how to take advantage of my existing capabilities, but he’s also offered among the best business advice I’ve ever received. He’s been very understanding and supportive and I’m grateful for the career transition services he’s provided.” – JV, another former MLB player (helped client secure an apprenticeship)
“Joe has been very helpful in providing me with career advice as well as the best ways to highlight my skills. He is a good listener and very thorough in making sure he has all the information he can to help his clients.” – LH (helped client choose a career to pursue)
“He showed me to follow the proverb, ‘Choose you passion, not your pension,’ because one of the keys to success in job hunting is to apply for a job that you like doing. I was pleased by his approach to job hunting. I realized that the job market is not something to be contemplated as something bleak, but as gaining inspiration, humor, using your skills and talents to your advantage and maybe even upgrading yourself for the position that you're pursuing. I highly recommend his services.” – EG (helped client choose a specific career to focus on)
